Job summary

Singapore Airlines is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant in the Overseas Accounting team within the SIA Finance Division in Singapore. You will handle AR activities for SIN Sales Passenger functions, reconcile payments, and liaise with business units on credit card chargebacks.

You will also manage general ledger entries, accruals, and suspense accounts, and perform monthly, quarterly closings with variance analysis. Collaboration with the IT team for system enhancements may be required.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Accountancy or similar required.
• Meticulous and self-driven, able to work independently or in a team.
• Proficient in MS Office and IT-savvy; knowledge of SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts receivable activities for SIN Sales Passenger functions and reconcile to ensure differences are recorded.
• Record and review journal entries, accruals, and monitor suspense accounts in general ledger.
• Complete monthly/quarterly checks for suspense accounts, AR, cash/bank, etc.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and variance analysis vs budget.
• Collaborate with IT for system enhancements testing.
• Handle other duties as assigned by Senior Manager Overseas Accounting.

Job description

The successful candidate will join the Overseas Accounting department in SIA Finance Division.

Key Responsibilities

1. Responsible for accounts receivable activities for SIN Sales Passenger functions, such as:
   a. Perform reconciliation between sales, billings and settlement to ensure that discrepancies are duly accounted for the different payment methods
   b. Follow up with SIN business units on credit card chargebacks received and respond to acquirers timely
   c. Investigating and resolving any irregularities or enquiries
2. Accountable for general ledger activities for SIN Sales, including the recording and review of journal entries, accruals submitted by business units, monitoring and clearance of various suspense accounts, etc.
3. Perform monthly/quarterly checklists for suspense accounts, account receivable, cash/bank, etc.
4. Perform monthly, quarterly, annual closing activities and variance analysis review between actuals vs budget
5. Work with IT team on system enhancements testing, where applicable.
6. Any other duties assigned by Senior Manager Overseas Accounting.

Requirements

• Possess a Diploma in Accountancy or similar
• Meticulous, self-driven and able to work independently as well as in a team
• Able to work under pressure and perform under tight datelines
• Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel & Word and IT savy; and
• Knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage
