Job summary

RECRUIT EXPRESS PTE LTD in Singapore seeks a Quality Lab Assistant Manager to oversee laboratory operations and lead a team of Lab Analysts and Controllers in supporting quality control and manufacturing. The role ensures compliance with EN ISO 13485, cGMP, GDP, and maintains data integrity.

You will drive safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement while coordinating LIMS projects and guiding staff through SOPs and investigations. Travel within APAC may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science or related discipline required.
• Minimum 2 years in a QC laboratory within medical device/pharma/food/chemical/process industries.
• Experience supervising lab personnel is advantageous.
• Experience with LIMS is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of lab quality systems and documentation practices.

About the Role

We are looking for a Quality Lab Assistant Manager to oversee laboratory operations and lead a team of Lab Analysts and Controllers in supporting quality control and manufacturing activities. The role will ensure laboratory practices comply with applicable quality and regulatory standards while driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and coach Lab Analysts, Technicians, Chemists, and Microbiologists in analytical testing activities.
• Ensure laboratory testing, data review, and analysis are performed safely, accurately, and reliably in accordance with established procedures.
• Ensure laboratory operations comply with EN ISO 13485, cGMP, JQMS, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) .
• Oversee daily laboratory operations, troubleshooting, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supervise laboratory testing activities, including equipment troubleshooting, equipment failures, and investigations.
• Review analytical test results for raw materials and finished products and monitor trends to identify potential anomalies and prevent out-of-specification (OOS) situations.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions during laboratory investigations.
• Ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed within the required timelines.
• Make scientifically sound and risk-based decisions when handling laboratory issues and investigations.
• Monitor laboratory inventory to ensure adequate availability of consumables, chemicals, and supplies.
• Plan and schedule laboratory manpower to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Establish, review, and approve laboratory operating procedures where required.
• Train laboratory personnel on SOPs, equipment operation, test methods, and laboratory controls.
• Drive continuous improvement and laboratory safety initiatives.
• Coordinate, develop, and maintain LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) projects.
• Manage staff performance and provide coaching where required to achieve productivity and operational objectives.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.

Requirements

• Degree in Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of technical experience in a Quality Control laboratory within the medical device, pharmaceutical, food, chemical, or process industry.
• Experience managing or supervising laboratory personnel such as Laboratory Technicians, Analysts, Chemists, or Microbiologists is advantageous.
• Experience with LIMS is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems, testing procedures, and documentation practices.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Excellent multitasking and time-management abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel within the Asia-Pacific region when required.
