The role requires origination and execution skills, client management, senior-level negotiation, and the ability to influence stakeholders across functions (Risk, Legal, Operations, and external partners), and accountability for direct business results.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Execution:

  • Achieve quantitative and qualitative targets for the Asia ECA team, leading origination, structuring, and execution of ECA financings in Power, Infrastructure, Shipping, Aviation, Renewables, Metals and Mining, Oil & Gas, and other industries requiring long-term funding.
  • Own the end-to-end deal lifecycle: from pitchbook preparation and client negotiation to credit approvals, legal documentation, and funding.
  • Drive Sinosure strategy in close coordination with regional leadership, managing relationships, policy adherence, and risk limits to unlock growth opportunities.
  • Optimize deal execution by coordinating multi-jurisdictional processes, lender syndications, and due diligence (financial, environmental & social, and contractual).
  • Develop cross-border financing pipeline by training clients, exporters, and internal teams on ECA processes and structuring.

Portfolio & Risk Management:

  • Monitor and manage the Asia ECA portfolio, ensuring compliance with policies, and risk assessments.
  • Mitigate operational and documentation risks, ensuring adherence to Citi’s policies while driving efficient execution.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership:

  • Act as the primary liaison for Sinosure, managing the relationship, risks, operational and administrative matters.
  • Collaborate with Bankers, Product Partners, and Underwriters to ensure seamless deal flow and execution across global markets.
  • Deliver training to Risk, Business, and Legal teams on ECA products, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce management reporting, including pipeline updates, budget tracking, and business performance analytics.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 3- 8 years of hands-on experience in ECA Finance, Project Finance, or Structured Trade, with a proven track record in origination, execution, and portfolio management.
  • Exposure to Sinosure transactions, including policy adherence, risk limit management, and multi-jurisdictional deal execution.
  • Strong structuring, credit analysis skills, with experience in credit approvals, loan documentation, and structuring.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Client management and origination.
  • Familiarity with Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA) based documentation and loan agreement negotiation experience.

  • Language proficiency and strong communication skills: Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and verbal) to engage with Sinosure and North Asian clients and agencies.
  • Willingness to travel across Asia Pacific for client meetings and business development.
  • Proactive problem-solving – adept at recognizing risks and driving resolutions under tight deadlines. Hands on approach with willingness to take on multiple tasks as per the requirements of the team.
  • Highly organized – manages complex processes with attention to detail (e.g., multi-lender syndications, regulatory deadlines).
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree is good to have.

Development Value:

  • Gain global exposure to high-profile cross-border ECA financings.
  • Expand cross-functional expertise in Risk, Legal, and Trade Finance policies.
