Job summary

Edgefield Primary School seeks a dedicated gardener to maintain the school eco-garden, including sowing seeds, pruning, weeding and lawn care. The role requires at least 3 years of gardening experience and strong knowledge of plant species and maintenance needs.

You will work 60 hours per month, coordinating with the Head of Department and Level Head Science, and you will prepare plants for lessons and school activities. The position excludes Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted holidays.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience as a Gardener.
• Must have good knowledge of different plant species and their maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the plants in the school eco-garden: sowing seeds, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, watering, labeling, and grass trimming.
• Work closely with Head of Department and Level Head Science in garden maintenance matters.
• Ensure sufficient resources (e.g., fertilizer, soil) and inform HOD for purchases.
• Prepare plants and resources for lessons.
• Assist in preparing the garden for competitions and school visits.

Contract Period: From 1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2027

Option to extend: From 1 Jan 2028 to 31 Dec 2028

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• 60 hours per month (there will be a 30 mins lunch break if working hours is more than 5 hours per day, and lunch break is not paid)
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays)
