A new era of manufacturing and R&D is here. Are you passionate about technology, eager to solve real business challenges, ready to drive innovation, and join our transformation journey? Then this Graduate program is for you!

As part of the Graduate Program at Volvo Group, you will tackle real challenges from day one and contribute to the development of next-generation production solutions.

The 15-month Graduate Program combines 50% time in your home department with 50% dedicated program activities, giving you broad exposure across Volvo Group. Through local and international rotations, short-term assignments, and targeted training in areas such as operations, engineering, and purchasing, you will build a strong understanding of our business, brands and strategy. The program also includes direct customer exposure and encourages collaboration, knowledge-sharing and an end-to-end mindset, enabling you to contribute to transformation across the organization from day one.

Your future team

We are looking forward to welcoming a new key member to the Vehicle Strategy Team, within the Cab Over Trucks (COT) Engineering department. Our team is responsible for managing the complete truck road maps over time and preparing upcoming vehicle projects. We lead pre-studies in collaboration with product planning, our truck brands, and engineering departments within Trucks Technology & Industry. We are a team of highly skilled and senior experts setting the technical direction for our future Volvo FH, FM, and FMX models, as well as Renault T, C, and K trucks at a vehicle level. Throughout this journey, you will gain extensive truck and business knowledge from both our team and our stakeholders.

We are 15 professionals located in Gothenburg and work in very close cooperation with our colleagues in Lyon, Curitiba, and Bangalore.

How you’ll contribute

As a Vehicle Product Architect, you will lead the technical development of specific areas or functionalities within the truck, rather than focusing solely on individual components or software. Our strategic efforts are continuously aligned to meet customer expectations and enhance Volvo Group's profitability. Your responsibilities will also encompass planning and budget preparation during a project pre-study phase. In this role you will take on responsibilities such as:

  • Propose and define the technical road map for Cab Over Trucks from a vehicle perspective, including the visualization and communication of road maps and truck architectures.
  • Define high‑performing truck concepts and their architecture, in cooperation with Common Architecture and Shared Technologies (CAST), COT Engineering, Function and Software Defined Vehicle, Powertrain Technology and Industrial, Strategic Product Planning, Renault and Volvo Trucks, while assuring optimal technical vehicle concepts on truck level.
  • Judge technical impact, dependencies, and R&D effort for various product updates, proposing optimizations, alternatives, or new updates.
  • Lead cross‑functional work in early development phases to set requirements and technical direction for future trucks, and initiate and lead advanced engineering studies to prepare the evolution of the COT range.
  • Establish strong relations with Engineering departments, Strategic Product Planning, Brand Product Strategy, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.

  • You are interested in multiple engineering disciplines, with a primary focus on mechanics and mechatronics.
  • A genuine interest in the automotive or transport industry, shown through relevant work, university projects, courses, or other experiences
  • You enjoy digging into complex data and information to find patterns and draw meaningful conclusions.
