Do you enjoy practical work with mechanical manufacturing and laboratory activities? We are looking for a technician for the Department of Energy Technology, where you will build prototypes and test rigs to support experimental research and education.

About the department/group

The position is based at the Division of Applied Thermodynamics and Refrigeration within the Department of Energy Technology. The work is conducted in a creative and dynamic environment, which involves close collaboration with many industrial partners, other technical staff, laboratory managers, researchers, doctoral students, and undergraduate students. The division is globally known for research in the field of heat pump and refrigeration systems.

The tasks primarily involve supporting our experimental and laboratory activities. The position includes the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Mechanical manufacturing (lathe, milling, welding, brazing, etc.).
  • Construction of prototypes and test rigs, commissioning, and technical support.
  • Design support for experimental research and education projects in collaboration with researchers and doctoral students (including the assessment of design drawings for external production).
  • Purchasing support.
  • Participation in the development of risk assessments.
  • Acting as fire safety responsible (training via employer) and chemical responsible person, in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Service and maintenance of the lab and workshop infrastructure.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • At least upper secondary education in mechanics or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge in 3-phase electricity.
  • Basic knowledge of English, as this will be required in day-to-day work.
  • Work experience with refrigeration, heat pumps, and thermal energy systems.

We are looking for someone who is generally handy and has an interest in energy-related topics. You are creative, have strong collaborative skills, and work with independence and flexibility in a dynamic work environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Work experience in electricity.
  • Work experience with the building of prototypes.
