SSC Space also has one of the world’s largest global networks of ground stations for satellite communications. We own and operate the Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, northern Sweden, with the aim of launching satellites in the near future. We operate a global network of ground stations and deliver mission‑critical communication services that are integral to our customers’ mission success, from launch to lunar space operations.
We are now expanding our Systems Engineering team and looking for both experienced and junior Systems Engineers for satellite communications.
Requirements
- Excellent technical skills and a desire to learn new things, excited about the growing space industry.
- Ability to communicate complex technical solutions clearly and effectively.
- Comfortable with writing documentation and improving engineering processes.
- Ability to lead own work, independently or in a team.
- Experience with both hardware and software systems (ground infrastructure, RF systems, software‑defined mission solutions).
- Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering, space technology or similar.
Desirable but not required
- Years of experience in systems engineering including hardware and software components.
- Spacecraft operations or spacecraft communications (TT&C, mission control systems, space‑ground interfaces).
- Drive to run projects, ideas or concepts; GitHub repos or technical projects welcome.
- Ground station hardware, RF signal chains, modulation/coding schemes, protocols (e.g. CCSDS).
- Documented knowledge of a major programming/scripting language and software architectures.
- Linux environments, including configuration, Docker, and networking.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and integration of customers’ space missions into our service system, ensuring efficient and reliable communications.
- Work on development projects to improve systems, capabilities, and service offerings.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert in discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Drive projects, analyses and technical investigations.
- Provide technical support to sales in bids and proposals.
