A leading scientific facility in Lund, Sweden is looking for an experienced Neutron Detector Technician to join the Detector Group. In this role, you will configure, design, and deploy neutron detector systems, ensuring adherence to safety protocols while documenting all efforts. The ideal candidate should have experience in assembling and testing detector components and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. This position is a fixed-term agreement for 3 years.

Job description

ESS is at an exciting turning point, transitioning from a construction site to an operating facility. To help us achieve our goal of becoming the world's most powerful neutron source, we are looking to add an experienced Neutron Detector Technician to our Detector Group. The Detector Group at ESS is responsible for designing, building, testing, commissioning, and installing all neutron detectors, enabling our researchers to "see" their experiments using our neutrons.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Configure, design, procure, assemble, test, evaluate, iterate, fabricate, and deploy Detector systems.
  • Follow best practices, safety directives, and the code of professional conduct.
  • Document all efforts thoroughly.
  • Develop and nurture networks of suppliers, scientific collaborators, and in-kind partners.
  • Support the efforts of colleagues in the above.
  • Assist the detector integration works with the efforts of assembling, testing, and repairing the detectors and their sub-systems.
  • Independently carry out the assembly and installation of detector components according to the assignment.
  • Manage and deliver multiple assigned tasks in parallel and on time.

The position is a 3-year fixed-term agreement based at the ESS Campus in Lund, Sweden.
