Job summary

Voyado is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Data & Integrations area, focusing on the Points team. You’ll work hands-on with backend development and distributed systems while guiding architectural decisions to scale our platform.

You’ll mentor other engineers, drive technical initiatives across teams, and help shape a move toward event-driven and AI-assisted engineering as we grow. We value balance and collaboration, with a flexible hybrid work model and opportunities to impact loyalty

Qualifications

• Experience with backend development in C#, .NET, Java, Kotlin, Go.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native services.
• Familiar with REST APIs and message-based systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus).
• Strong focus on observability, automated testing and secure engineering practices.

We are super excited to announce that Jimmy Sigwid is looking for our next Staff Software Engineer to join our Data & Integrations product area and Team Points.

Our mission is to make loyalty, incentives and customer data scalable, reliable and actionable across Voyado’s platform. Behind that mission are systems handling business-critical transactions and data for some of the world’s leading brands — and as Voyado and our customers grow, so do the technical challenges we need to solve.

A key focus going forward is evolving our platform architecture to support greater scale, stronger domain ownership and more independent services. This means working with everything from distributed systems and data consistency to event-driven architecture and service boundaries.

About The Role

The Points team owns the systems behind how consumers earn and use loyalty points and rewards across Voyado’s retail customers. Whether someone earns points from a purchase, uses them towards a reward, or interacts with a loyalty program across different channels, our services help make that experience possible.

These are business-critical systems that need to remain fast, reliable and consistent as transaction volumes and use cases grow.

Right now, the team is in the middle of an exciting technical transition. We are evolving parts of the architecture to handle greater scale, reduce dependencies between domains and make it easier for teams to evolve their services independently. A large part of this means moving towards more event-driven and service-oriented patterns and rethinking how services and data interact.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll be one of the technical drivers behind that evolution. You’ll work hands‑on with backend development and distributed systems while helping the team make architectural decisions that need to hold up over time.

The role combines deep technical work with technical leadership. You’ll drive complex initiatives, mentor other engineers and collaborate across teams to improve both our platform and the way we build software.

So, who are you?

We’re looking for an experienced backend engineer who combines strong technical depth with the ability to influence technical direction beyond their immediate team.

You enjoy taking ownership of complex technical problems where the solution isn’t always obvious. You’re comfortable creating clarity, evaluating trade-offs and bringing other engineers along in the direction you propose — while still staying close to the code.

You don’t need experience from our exact stack, but we believe you have worked with several of the following:

• Backend development in C#, .NET, Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar
• Distributed systems, cloud-native services and event‑driven architectures
• REST APIs, asynchronous workflows and message-based systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or Azure Service Bus
• SQL databases, transactional consistency and scalable data handling
• Observability, automated testing and secure engineering practices

We also think you:

• Enjoy driving technical direction and improving engineering practices
• Are comfortable mentoring and supporting other engineers
• Can lead technical initiatives that span teams or domains
• Use AI coding tools as a natural part of software development and see AI‑assisted engineering as an important capability going forward as we continue our journey toward becoming AI-native

Experience with high‑volume transactional systems, such as fintech, payments, loyalty or similar domains, is a strong plus — but previous retail experience is not required.
