Job summary

Rain is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for the EMEA region. This fully remote role involves setting technical direction for major backend areas, architecting distributed microservices, and delivering reliable RESTful APIs that power fintech products.

You will work with cross-functional teams across product and engineering on scalable systems, with a focus on performance and reliability. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in engineering, strong fintech experience, and excellent collaboration

Qualifications

• Experience designing fintech products or systems from concept to scale.
• Strong system design and architecture skills in distributed microservices.
• Proven track record of building reliable, scalable backend platforms.
• Ability to own large, ambiguous initiatives and drive to completion.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and architecture for backend platform areas.
• Design and implement distributed microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Build and maintain integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners.
• Ensure observability, performance, and reliability of systems.
• Create and maintain technical documentation (architectures, APIs, workflows).
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
