Job summary

Grafana Labs seeks a Staff-level Backend Engineer to build production services for a new AI-native data intelligence system. You will design core backend architecture for context ingestion, storage, retrieval APIs, and agent integrations, operating in a high-autonomy team.

You will shape architecture and service boundaries while collaborating across product and infrastructure, with ownership of scalable, production-grade solutions and strong emphasis on reliability and observability.

Responsibilities

• Build the core backend services for context ingestion, indexing, retrieval, API access, and system configuration.
• Create a scalable multi-tenant SaaS foundation with tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, and audit logs.
• Power retrieval workflows for AI agents and internal tools to access relevant context, provenance, and signals.
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure to balance fast experimentation with long-term reliability.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards using observability tooling.
• Contribute to technical direction including architecture, storage choices, API contracts, and deployment patterns.
• Communicate effectively across teams and take ownership of AI solutions to ensure scalability and maintainability.
