Specialist CFD Engineer
Enter your role with Aker Solutions: Entr is the dedicated consultancy arm of Aker Solutions. We are at the forefront of the global energy transition and are on a mission to solve the world’s most critical energy challenges.
We are looking for a Specialist CFD Engineer to join the Technical Safety & Analysis team at our Gothenburg office in Sweden. As a key member, you will work within a multidisciplinary team of experts in technical safety, environmental studies, risk analysis, and CFD modelling, conducting advanced simulations and analyses to optimise designs and enhance safety across offshore wind, aquaculture, carbon capture, defence, and low‑carbon technologies.
What will you be doing?
- Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for one or more applications such as:
- Hydrodynamics – analysing loads and movement of structures in water, slamming, marine operations, wave run‑up, etc.
- Aquaculture – water quality, circulation and oxygen analysis, waste and particle management, net and membrane design, structural loads, etc.
- Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCUS) – flue gas system design, process system optimisation and verification, stack design, dynamic simulations.
- Multiphase flow – flow‑meter analysis, erosion, velocity and phase distribution analysis, etc.
- External flow analysis – helideck turbulence, snow drift and accumulation, produced water and gas dispersion, etc.
- Conjugate heat transfer – heat removal and thermal management of process, electronics, mechanical systems, HVAC design optimisation and verification.
- Hydropower turbine system design and optimisation.
- Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary, multi‑cultural team, or work on smaller studies directly for the client.
- Identify new opportunities, prepare tenders, act as project manager for smaller studies, and promote our services internally and externally.
- Mentor younger engineers and contribute to innovation and development activities.
- Work on studies and projects across all engineering phases, from feasibility to detailed engineering and operation/modification.
- Lead CFD analysis studies and manage smaller projects.
- Help shape the future of CFD services in Entr and solve global energy challenges.
We think you should have:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in engineering, physics or related fields with emphasis on fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, process design or product development.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience with CFD analysis applied to industrial applications.
- Experience with offshore wind, aquaculture, CCUS, oil & gas, hydrogen and derivatives is an advantage.
- Strong learning drive, ability to acquire new skills, share knowledge and experience.
- Active listening and ability to translate customer challenges into solutions.
- Experience handling customers and identifying new opportunities, engaging new potential clients.
- Strong structured work habits, work ethics, and positive office contribution.
- Experience with StarCCM+ or similar CFD tools is an advantage.
- Experience with AI tools and basic programming in Python, Java, VBA, Power BI or similar is an advantage.
- Project management and customer contact experience are an advantage.
- Good communication skills in English (required). Norwegian/Swedish language skills are an advantage.
- Swedish or Norwegian citizenship is an advantage due to client requirements.
