Job summary

SEB in Stockholm area is seeking a senior GCP platform engineer to lead the development of our cloud foundation. You will own how the platform is built, working closely with the architect, and act as the technical lead for GCP across the team.

You will still write code weekly and mentor others, while ensuring secure, compliant and scalable landing zones and platform capabilities. This role combines hands-on coding with architectural influence.

Responsibilities

• Set the bar for code quality, CI/CD and automated testing; enable the team to do the right thing.
• Take the lead when unclear: break problems down, propose solutions and decide how to build.
• Be the go-to person for GCP implementation across the department.
• Drive lifecycle management of the platform and address technical debt before it grows.
• Advise architects and development teams across the bank on platform best practices.
• Coach colleagues through code review, pair programming and mentoring, and participate in hiring.

Join Cloud Foundations and help build the cloud platform the rest of the bank develops on. We deliver landing zones, guardrails and platform capabilities in Google Cloud so SEB's developers can move fast without compromising on security or compliance.

This is a senior developer role with tech lead responsibility for our GCP platform. Our Solution Architect owns the target architecture. You own how it gets built: you lead the development work that turns architecture into a platform in production, and you are the link between the two. When a design meets reality, you are the one who spots what does not hold and takes it back to the architect.

You still write code every week. You have no line management responsibility, but you are the technical lead for GCP development in the team, and one of a pair with the architect for the platform.

What you will be doing

• Develop and maintain our landing zones and underlying platform capabilities in Google Cloud together with the team.

• Lead the realisation of the target architecture: break it down into buildable work, set the technical direction for how it is implemented and see it through to production.

• Work side by side with our Solution Architect for GCP: pressure-test designs against implementation reality and from a security perspective, feed back what you learn from building, and support the architecture work with hands‑on input.

• Set the bar for code quality, CI/CD and automated testing, and make it easy for the team to do the right thing.

• Take the lead when the situation is unclear: break the problem down, propose a solution and make the call on how it gets built.

• Be the go‑to person for GCP implementation in our department, including work that stretches across several teams.

• Drive lifecycle management of the platform and stay ahead of technical debt before it gets expensive.

• Advise architects and development teams across the bank on how to build well on the platform.

• Coach colleagues through code review, pair programming and mentoring, and take part in hiring new team members.

Who you are

You are a driven, proactive and collaborative engineer who takes ownership and enjoys solving complex problems. You share what you know, you are not satisfied with the first solution that happens to work, and you can move between an architecture discussion and a pull request in the same afternoon. Openness and transparency are your baseline in a team.

Skills and experience

• Several years of hands‑on development in Google Cloud, with a track record of solutions you have built, launched and maintained over time.

• Experience of leading development work without formal line management, in a team or across several teams.

• A habit of working closely with architects and turning a target architecture into something that runs in production.

• Infrastructure as Code, automation and CI/CD in tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions.

• Scripting and development in Python.

• Solid understanding of identity and access management, observability , networking and security in the cloud.

• Practical experience of agile ways of working, and of suggesting improvements that actually get implemented.

• University degree or equivalent experience.

• Fluent English, spoken and written.

Nice to have

• Experience of driving larger technical shifts across several teams or domains.

• Financial services or another regulated industry.

• Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect or similar.

• Public speaking and knowledge sharing outside your own organization.
