Empiric is working with a leading banking organisation seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Architect to lead the design, implementation and optimisation of a modern enterprise data platform.
This is a senior, hands-on architectural position requiring deep Snowflake expertise, strong stakeholder-management skills and previous experience delivering data-platform initiatives within a regulated financial environment.
The successful consultant will take ownership of key architecture decisions while working closely with data engineers, business stakeholders, risk, compliance and technology teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, design and implementation of enterprise-scale Snowflake solutions.
- Define platform standards, architectural patterns and engineering best practices.
- Design scalable data models and transformation frameworks for analytical and regulatory reporting.
- Architect ELT/ETL pipelines and integration frameworks connecting Snowflake with upstream and downstream systems.
- Support the migration of legacy and on-premise data platforms into Snowflake.
- Establish appropriate data governance, quality, lineage, security and access controls.
- Optimize Snowflake queries, virtual warehouses, platform performance and cloud consumption.
- Collaborate with business, data, risk, compliance and technology stakeholders.
- Introduce CI/CD and DevOps practices across the data platform.
- Provide architectural leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
Required experience:
- At least 10 years’ experience across data architecture, data warehousing or data engineering.
- At least three years of hands-on Snowflake architecture experience.
- Strong knowledge of Snowflake architecture, virtual warehouses, Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks, data sharing and access controls.
- Advanced SQL, data modelling and ELT/ETL experience.
- Strong knowledge of Snowflake performance and cost optimization.
- Experience with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience implementing CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platforms.
- Previous delivery experience within banking, financial services or insurance.
- Knowledge of data governance, risk, compliance, security and regulatory reporting.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
Language requirements:
- Professional fluency in English.
- Intermediate or higher Swedish, including the ability to participate in meetings and read and write in Swedish.
