Job summary

Spotify is seeking a senior applied research scientist to advance novel ML techniques for state-of-the-art speech-to-speech models. You will collaborate across engineering and data teams to push quality, realism, and production readiness in speech synthesis and recognition.

Based in London or Stockholm, this role offers hybrid work with some in-person meetings and strong cross-functional collaboration with Speak.

Qualifications

• PhD in ML or related field; professional or academic research experience.
• Experience with transformers, GANs, diffusion models, flow matching, VAEs.
• Experience developing generative models for speech synthesis/recognition or NLP.
• Strong Python and PyTorch; ability to explain technical ideas clearly.
• Experience in academic or professional research settings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and experiment with new methods for speech synthesis and speech recognition.
• Expand speech use-cases across markets and products.
• Collaborate with engineering and data teams to production pipelines and scalable models.
• Share knowledge with researchers within Speak and champion best practices.
