Smart Eye AB in Gothenburg seeks an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead automotive software programs for global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. Qualifications

  • 5+ years automotive project/program management, including customer-facing software development.
  • Proven experience with OEM and Tier-1 customers and managing multiple complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of automotive development processes and product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform in fast-paced customer environments and proficiency with PM tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary program management contact for assigned OEM and Tier-1 customers, leading meetings, reviews, milestones, and issue resolution.
  • Build trusted customer relationships and manage expectations while balancing internal resources and business priorities.
  • Ensure clear alignment between customer requirements, commitments, and internal execution.
  • Develop and manage program plans, schedules, deliverables, risks, budgets, and customer commitments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution across Engineering, Product Owners, Validation, Data Management, and Customer Support.
  • Proactively identify execution risks and resource conflicts, driving mitigation and timely delivery of releases, demos, and evaluations.
  • Coordinate customer requirements, feature requests, and change requests together with Product and Sales.
  • Assess impact on scope, schedule, and resources, ensuring commitments and changes are documented and communicated.
  • Support configuration management and release planning.
  • Provide clear program status updates to customers and internal leadership.
  • Translate complex technical topics into business-oriented communication.
  • Maintain executive-level reporting and program documentation covering status, risks, opportunities, and key decisions.

Your Role

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of advanced Interior Sensing software programs for global automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. This role serves as the primary interface between customers and internal cross-functional teams, ensuring customer commitments are met while maintaining alignment with company priorities, technical capabilities, and business objectives. You bring structure and clarity to complex automotive software programs while helping teams navigate uncertainty and change.

You will be leading one or more of our developer teams, communicating with the customers and other internal stakeholders as well as setting the priorities for the team.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced technical automotive environment, excels at managing ambiguity and customer-driven change, and can effectively navigate complex technical and organizational challenges. This individual must be highly organized, an excellent communicator, and a proactive problem solver with a strong understanding of automotive software development and a background in technology.

Previous experience managing global automotive customers is essential. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success working directly with international OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, coordinating activities across multiple regions, and leading programs involving globally distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer Program Leadership
  • Act as the primary program management contact for assigned OEM and Tier-1 customers, leading meetings, reviews, milestones, and issue resolution.

  • Ensure clear alignment between customer requirements, commitments, and internal execution.
Program Planning & Execution
  • Develop and manage program plans, schedules, deliverables, risks, budgets, and customer commitments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution across Engineering, Product Owners, Validation, Data Management, and Customer Support.
  • Proactively identify execution risks and resource conflicts, driving mitigation and timely delivery of releases, demos, and evaluations.
Risk & Issue Management
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and manage program risks, dependencies, and roadblocks.
  • Lead customer escalations and drive timely, solution-oriented resolution of issues.
  • Facilitate decision-making and ensure closure of critical actions.
Requirements & Change Management
  • Coordinate customer requirements, feature requests, and change requests together with Product and Sales.
  • Assess impact on scope, schedule, and resources, ensuring commitments and changes are documented and communicated.
  • Support configuration management and release planning.
Communication & Reporting
  • Provide clear and concise program status updates to customers and internal leadership.
  • Translate complex technical topics into business-oriented communication.
  • Maintain executive-level reporting and program documentation covering status, risks, opportunities, and key decisions.
Your qualifications:
  • At least Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of automotive project/program management, including customer-facing software development programs.
  • Proven experience working with OEM and Tier-1 customers and managing multiple complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of automotive development processes and product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced customer environments and proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or similar.
Good-to-have-skills:
  • Experience with DMS, OMS, ADAS, computer vision, AI/ML, mathematics or related automotive safety technologies.
  • Technical background in software, systems engineering, embedded systems, or automotive electronics.
  • Familiarity with automotive standards and processes such as ASPICE, ISO 26262, software release management, change management, and requirements traceability.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
