The positions are located within the Faculty of Medicine. Departmental placement will be determined at the time of appointment. Premises, other infrastructure and resources for the positions are financed in accordance with the standard model used by the Faculty. The positions are not combined positions and cannot be converted into one. The subject is defined as medical research, with the aim of recruiting internationally competitive researchers who can conduct independent high-quality research and develop into future leaders in academia.

Qualifications

• Qualified for Senior Lecturer according to Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, with demonstrated teaching expertise and a PhD or corresponding research competence, or other professional expertise valuable to the subject matter and duties.
• Completion of at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education, or equivalent, with a plan to complete required training within the first two years of employment if not yet completed.

Basis for assessment

The applicant should demonstrate research and teaching expertise of significance for the subject. Emphasis will be placed on scientific skills and maintaining a high national and international standard as a researcher. The applicant must hold a PhD in a relevant field. Scientific excellence should be demonstrated through an independent research profile with international recognition and impact, including an independent line of research, ongoing competitive funding as principal investigator, at least one postdoctoral experience outside the doctoral institution, and publications in peer-reviewed journals where the applicant is the senior author. Teaching skills and ability to supervise MSc and PhD students will also be considered.

Teaching and supervision in first-, second-, and third-cycle education are required. Leadership, collaboration, and ability to integrate with the surrounding community will be considered. In the appointment process, emphasis will be placed on potential for scientific development, including the ability to build and lead a competitive research environment long term. The research profile should strengthen the Faculty’s international impact and contribute to excellent research environments. There will be emphasis on the potential to develop into a future professor and to lead long-term research initiatives.

For teaching staff at Lund University, there is a general qualification requirement to be suitable for the position and capable of performing the duties well.
