The Electrical Valve Design department is part of HVDC Products at Hitachi Energy in Ludvika. We are globally responsible for the electrical design and technical requirements of semiconductor-based HVDC and SVC valves, as well as advanced current measurement solutions for HVDC applications.
HVDC valves are critical components used to convert AC to DC (and vice versa), enabling long-distance and high-capacity power transmission. SVC valves are used to support and stabilize AC power systems. In addition, we design digital optical instrument transformers—state-of-the-art, compact current measurement devices tailored for HVDC systems. These are used across the HVDC system to protect valves against overcurrent and earth faults, as well as for harmonic measurement and filter supervision.
Our department in Sweden consists of approximately 45 highly skilled engineers and managers, and we work in close collaboration with our design teams in India and China. Beyond project and tender execution, we play a key role in product development, lifecycle management, and technical support for upgrades and service projects.
We believe great work thrives in an environment where people feel genuinely supported and fairly rewarded. Our benefits are designed to create real value for every individual – fueling engagement, performance, and growth. By prioritizing well‑being, we build a workplace where personal and organizational success grow together.
The benefits listed above are an excerpt only and may vary depending on job grade, location and contract type. Eligibility is subject to local regulations.
