Job summary

A growing System Engineering and Solution Company in Sweden is seeking a Senior Energy Management Engineer. This role involves developing and optimizing climate and thermal control software for HVAC and battery systems. Candidates should have a Master's degree in a relevant field and over 5 years of automotive experience. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, Model-Based Development methods, and embedded software development is required. Excellent English communication skills are a must.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Control Systems or related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive climate & thermal systems.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Solid understanding of control theory (PID, state machines).
• Experience with Model-Based Development (MBD) using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow/Embedded Coder.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, integrate, calibrate, and verify climate and thermal control software

Optimize energy efficiency and system performance for HVAC, battery cooling, and powertrain cooling

Design and implement control algorithms using Model-Based Development (MBD)

Analyze and resolve complex software issues related to functionality, performance, and system integration

Perform software calibration, validation, and testing on bench and vehicle level

Participate in vehicle testing and subjective evaluation

Ensure adherence to software development processes and quality standards

Collaborate closely with cross-functional and global team

Required Qualifications & Skills

Master’s degree in Control Systems, Vehicle Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechatronics, or a related field

5+ years of experience in the automotive industry within climate & thermal systems

Strong domain knowledge of:

HVAC systems

Battery thermal management

Powertrain cooling

Solid understanding of control theory (PID controllers, state machines)

Experience with Model-Based Development (MBD) using:

MATLAB

Simulink

Stateflow

Embedded Coder

Experience in embedded software development (C/C++)

Hands-on experience with software calibration tools (INCA, CANape)

Experience in function validation, bench testing, and road testing
