Job description

Description We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop the Telematics Service Platform (TSP) agent running on the T‑Box application processor under Embedded Linux.

Description We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop the Telematics Service Platform (TSP) agent running on the T‑Box application processor under Embedded Linux. The TSP agent is responsible for connected‑vehicle services, secure cloud connectivity and communication between backend systems and vehicle functions. It terminates cloud connections over MQTT using Protocol Buffers and translates remote commands into vehicle signals through D‑Bus interfaces. The role involves developing a modern C++20 application supporting more than 20 remote services, device lifecycle management, vehicle‑signal integration and reliable communication with the MCU‑based Digital Key agent. The ideal candidate has strong C++ and Embedded Linux experience, with a background in connected devices, automotive telematics or distributed software systems.

Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong professional experience in modern C++, preferably C++17 or C++20.
  • Hands‑on experience developing applications on Embedded Linux.
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency and event‑driven architectures.
  • Experience with network communication protocols and resilient service design.
  • Practical experience with MQTT and Protocol Buffers or equivalent binary serialisation technologies.
  • Experience with D‑Bus, preferably GDBus or GLib/GIO.
  • Strong knowledge of software design, type‑safe interfaces and error handling.
  • Experience with TLS, certificates and secure device‑to‑cloud communication.
  • Familiarity with Linux debugging, automated testing and software build systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in automotive telematics, connected vehicles or embedded connectivity platforms.
  • Knowledge of CAN signals, vehicle data models and automotive service interfaces.
  • Experience with advanced C++ templates and compile‑time type checking.
  • Familiarity with mTLS bootstrap, CSR generation and certificate renewal.
  • Experience with serial or IPC protocols involving acknowledgements, retries, fragmentation and heartbeats.
  • Knowledge of systemd, CMake, cross‑compilation and Linux service development.
  • Familiarity with automotive cybersecurity and vehicle integration testing.
Job responsibilities
Connected Vehicle Services
  • Design and implement a common software interface for 20+ remote vehicle services.
  • Develop service handlers for remote locking, windows, climate control, charging and V2L scheduling, vehicle status, location, sentry mode, child‑presence detection, geo/time/speed fencing, in‑vehicle messaging and driver profiles.
  • Implement per‑service protocol version negotiation and backend‑driven service activation.
  • Translate backend commands into validated vehicle operations and return vehicle responses to the cloud.
  • Implement service‑level error handling, timeout management and backward compatibility.
Cloud Connectivity and Messaging
  • Develop an MQTT connection state machine covering connection, authentication, disconnection, reconnection and recovery.
  • Integrate Protocol Buffers for message serialisation and deserialisation.
  • Implement asynchronous message processing, queue management and backpressure.
  • Support secure cloud connectivity using mutual TLS (mTLS).
  • Handle retries, timeouts, connectivity loss and delayed or duplicate messages.
  • Implement logging, diagnostics and production troubleshooting support.
Device Lifecycle and Security
  • Implement secure device bootstrap registration and onboarding.
  • Develop on‑device CSR generation and service‑certificate renewal.
  • Integrate backend provisioning and configuration management.
  • Manage device identity, certificate lifecycle and recovery from provisioning failures.
  • Apply secure coding practices and ensure appropriate protection of sensitive credentials.
Vehicle Abstraction and Signal Integration
  • Design and implement the GDBus‑based vehicle abstraction layer.
  • Integrate several hundred CAN signals using a compile‑time‑checked C++ template‑based binding pattern.
  • Develop type‑safe mappings between vehicle signals, D‑Bus interfaces and service data models.
  • Implement signal subscriptions, command dispatch and response handling.
  • Handle invalid, unavailable or stale signals and communication failures.
MCU Communication and Flow Control
  • Implement the bidirectional communication layer between the TSP agent and the MCU Digital Key agent.
  • Enforce single‑message‑in‑flight serialisation in both directions.
  • Implement ACK/NACK handling, retries, timeouts and fallback mechanisms.
  • Support connection heartbeats, message fragmentation and reassembly.
  • Implement queue supervision, bounded resource usage and recovery from interrupted transfers or MCU resets.
Testing and Quality
  • Develop unit tests, integration tests and fault‑injection scenarios.
  • Debug issues across Linux services, networking, D‑Bus, vehicle interfaces and MCU communication.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews and continuous integration activities.
  • Collaborate with cloud, platform, vehicle integration and cybersecurity teams.
