This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden. Do you have experience developing electrical or electromechanical components and want to take greater technical ownership? Then this could be the next step for you.
Our team is responsible for the electrical components within the thermal management systems of Scania’s electrified vehicles. These components play a key role in keeping batteries, power electronics and other critical systems at the right temperature – directly affecting vehicle performance, efficiency, reliability and lifetime.
As a Senior Development Engineer, you will have end-to-end technical responsibility for one of these components. You will work with the complete development journey: from early concepts and technical requirements to supplier development, verification, industrialization and continuous improvement of components already in production.
As Senior Development Engineer, you will be the technical focal point for your component. You will work in a highly collaborative environment with experts across TRATON and our global supplier network.
Your responsibilities include:
You hold a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, and have experience working with electrical or electromechanical components. We are looking for engineers who are ready to take technical ownership and lead collaboration with internal experts, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams.
You do not need experience in all of these areas. We are looking for someone with a strong engineering foundation, a genuine curiosity for how things work, and an interest in expanding their technical responsibility.
To succeed in this role, you are analytical and structured in solving technical challenges, comfortable making decisions in situations where all answers may not yet be available, and able to communicate complex technical topics clearly. You enjoy collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, managing multiple development activities in parallel, and exploring new technologies. Fluency in English is essential, as you will be working in an international environment.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds – your unique experience and perspectives is valuable to us.
Apply as soon as possible – deadline 2026-09-14.
You will join an international engineering team responsible for electrical components in thermal management. We believe strong engineering comes from combining technical competence with openness and teamwork. In our team, you are encouraged to ask questions, challenge existing solutions, share your knowledge and take ownership of your area. You will have significant freedom in how you drive your component forward, while having access to experienced colleagues and specialists when you need support. The technology is developing quickly, and we do not expect you to know everything from day one. What matters is that you are technically curious, willing to learn and motivated by solving complex engineering challenges together with others.
Within TRATON Group R&D, you are an important part of something bigger. Joining us means gaining access to the ins and outs of the entire transportation industry.
We offer a dynamic and engaging workplace where collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement are part of everyday life. You will be part of a strong team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and close cooperation across functions.
With a structured development plan and a wide range of training opportunities, TRATON Group R&D supports your professional growth both locally and internationally.
