Job summary

Justera Group is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to join a team building and maintaining high-performance media delivery and processing solutions. You will shape backend services that determine how media content is processed, packaged, and delivered to various devices, with emphasis on adaptive streaming, CDS, and efficient workflows.

You will work across technologies, collaborate with multiple engineering teams, and influence technical decisions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing or operating media delivery systems.
• Strong understanding of adaptive and segmented streaming, media packaging, and transcoding.
• Proficiency in video/audio codecs (H.264, HEVC, AV1, AAC).
• Experience with media containers and streaming formats (MP4, MPEG-TS, HLS, DASH).
• Systems-level programming language experience (Rust or C/C++).
• Backend development experience (Python and/or Java).
• Experience operating production backend services at scale.
• Familiarity with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and cloud-native environments.
• Understanding of high-throughput pipelines, performance optimization, monitoring and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, maintain, and support backend media processing and packaging services.
• Build scalable, reliable, high-performance backend solutions.
• Work with Rust, Python, and Java, leveraging C/C++ libraries where needed.
• Develop and optimize services on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Take operational ownership of services, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture and design decisions.
• Ensure services are observable, scalable, and cost-efficient in a cloud environment.
