Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Global Tissue Services automation engineering team in Karlstad. You will work on automation systems for tissue machine modernization, focusing on software engineering, testing, commissioning, and start-up activities, primarily with Valmet DNA and with exposure to Siemens PLCs and Pilz safety controllers as needed.

Qualifications

B.Sc or M.Sc degree in automation engineering or equivalent experience.
More than five years of experience in a similar role.
Experience with PLC/DCS systems (e.g. Valmet DNA, Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
Industry knowledge.
Experience with Eplan/CAD is an additional advantage.
Proficiency in Swedish and English.
Willingness to travel 0-80 days per year.

Responsibilities

Design and develop automation system software (PLC/DCS) and produce the related documentation.
Timely completing engineering activities with respect to delivery time, hourly budget and the target cost.
Support mechanical and process engineering teams in solution selection.
Support the sales team by providing expertise and answers to software engineering‑related questions.
Support procurement team if needed to evaluate suppliers and brands.
Participate in FAT and start-ups.
Participate in commissioning, testing and starting up of equipment.
