Job summary

Validio is building the data management platform that ensures data quality, lineage, and cataloging. As a Backend Engineer on the Validation Engine, you will own end-to-end components—from proto contracts to production metrics—while writing performant SQL and connecting to diverse data warehouses.

You will collaborate closely with Customer Success, Solutions Engineering, and Support to resolve real-world data quality issues.

Qualifications

• Production-grade Rust or Go service experience.
• Strong systems-level understanding: async runtimes, backpressure, memory layout.
• Deep SQL knowledge including window functions and dialect differences.
• Ability to reason about invariants and failure modes before shipping.
• Experience guiding AI-assisted tooling while keeping codebase coherent.

Responsibilities

• Own parts of the engine end to end, from proto contract to production metrics.
• Build source connectors for warehouses, including schema introspection, query generation, and auth.
• Generate correct, performant SQL across all dialects our customers use.
• Extend lineage parser into dialect corners it doesn\'t cover yet.
• Debug hard systems problems like dropped watermarks, lock contention, and non-scaling query plans.
• Collaborate with Customer Success, Solutions Engineering, and Support on customer problems.
