Ericsson Research in Stockholm invites a Master’s student to co-create and evaluate a taxonomy that blends predefined organisational domains with data-driven subfields and topic structures extracted from Ericsson artefacts.

You will review related research, adapt methods, and build a prototype to improve research discoverability and navigation within Ericsson Research Insight Exploration. Strong Python skills and independent work are essential.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s degree in CS, ML, Data Science, Information Retrieval, Knowledge Engineering, HCI, or related field.
• Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Interest in organisational knowledge management, research mapping, information retrieval, or AI-supported knowledge discovery.
• Programming experience in Python and ability to work independently on open research questions.

Responsabilités

• Review taxonomy generation, ontology learning, topic modelling, knowledge graphs, scientific knowledge organisation, and research mapping.
• Investigate Ericsson Research taxonomies and previous automatic taxonomy work.
• Develop/adapt methods to incorporate predefined top-level domains into data-driven taxonomy generation.
• Develop techniques for identifying subfields, relationships, overlaps, emerging topics, and gaps between expected and observed activity.
• Evaluate the taxonomy with quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Develop a prototype and demonstrate integration into Ericsson Research Insight Exploration for navigation and discovery.
• Analyse results and provide recommendations for long-term taxonomy management and knowledge discovery.
• Present findings and evaluation results.
