Job summary

Cunningham Contracts Ltd is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for our Skelleftea, Sweden office. You will manage cost reporting, cash flow, and procurement, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring strong commercial performance on civil projects.

Role requires a degree in QS, 5+ years' experience, and familiarity with international contract forms and construction law. The role offers full-time, permanent employment with diverse locations and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a QS in civil engineering.
• Familiarity with various forms of contract and knowledge of construction law.

We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Quantity Surveyor to join our high performing team.

REPORTING TO: Commercial Lead

LOCATION: Skelleftea, Sweden

CONTRACT TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

Role Responsibilities

• Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit level.
• Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place.
• Carry out cost management including forecasting.
• Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategy.
• Ensure that any sub-contractors have agreed terms and conditions that are appropriate for Cuningham Contracts, with commercial risks identified.
• Ensure that the supply chain are engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions.
• Ensure that good client relationships are fostered.
• Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting.
• Ensure effective interaction between the commercial team and the operational site teams.
• Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the Commercial department.
• Have a good understanding of the processes and procedures of the Commercial department, and actively seek to assist in development and improvement where possible.
• Coach and mentor Junior Quantity Surveyors within the Commercial department, sharing knowledge and best practice.
• Act as mentor to any apprentices that may be attached to the Commercial department, sharing knowledge and best practice, acting as a point of contact for any queries, and providing feedback on the apprentice as required.

The Candidate

Qualifications & Experience:

• A HND or degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent.
• A Minimum of 5 Years experience as a QS in the civil engineering industry.
• Familiarity with various form of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law.
• Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates and accruals calculations.
• Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
• Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative.
• Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines.

Skills & Attributes

• Possess in-depth knowledge of Irish/UK construction standards.
• Ability to liaise with Commercial & Contracts team when dealing with internal stakeholders and client’s representatives while on site, including attendance at meetings.
• Technically competent.
• Demonstrable commercial awareness.
• Process orientated and strong attention to detail
• Effective problem-solving skills

• This role will at time to time, require working in other locations, including construction sites or at client offices. A degree of flexibility is therefore required.
