Job summary

Kintec Global Recruitment is seeking a QA/QC Inspector for a major metals manufacturing project in Sweden. You will perform and coordinate QA/QC inspection activities across mechanical, structural, and electrical installation works, ensuring workmanship meets project specs, procedures, and international standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting equipment installations, reviewing ITPs, compiling quality dossiers, supporting client and third‑party inspections, and closing non-conformances.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in QA/QC inspection within industrial construction or similar sectors.
  • Proven experience compiling Quality Books and turnover dossiers for major projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical/structural inspection and ISO 9001 requirements.

  • Review weld, coating, bolting, and dimensional inspection records and verify compliance.
  • Prepare and compile Quality Books and turnover documentation by systems and equipment.

Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract

Project Context

This role supports the construction, installation, inspection, and quality documentation activities associated with a major industrial metals manufacturing project in Sweden. The QA/QC Inspector will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical, structural, and associated electrical installation activities comply with project specifications, approved procedures, client requirements, and applicable international standards.

Role Purpose

To perform and coordinate QA/QC inspection activities across mechanical, structural, and supporting electrical installation works, ensuring the highest standards of quality throughout construction, mechanical completion, and handover phases. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, verifying compliance, maintaining inspection records, compiling Quality Books, and supporting client and third‑party inspections through to final turnover.

Key Accountabilities
  • Quality Assurance & Quality Control:
  • Execute site inspections and surveillance activities in accordance with approved ITPs, procedures, specifications, and project quality requirements.
  • Verify compliance of installed equipment, structures, piping systems, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Review and validate inspection and test records before inclusion within project quality dossiers.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is accurately completed and maintained.
  • Inspection Activities:
  • Perform inspections of structural steel installations, mechanical equipment installation, bolted connections, alignment works, coatings, painting systems, and mechanical completion activities.
  • Verify dimensional inspections, installation tolerances, leveling, alignment, and equipment positioning.
  • Review weld inspection reports, NDT records, coating reports, material certificates, and inspection documentation.
  • Verify bolt tensioning and torque‑tightening records.
  • Support receipt inspections and preservation checks of equipment and materials.
  • Quality Documentation & Turnover:
  • Prepare and compile Quality Books organized by systems, equipment packages, machines, and mechanical completion boundaries.
  • Manage inspection dossiers and turnover documentation.
  • Ensure all records are complete, traceable, and submitted in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate document close‑out activities prior to handover.
  • Client & Third‑Party Interface:
  • Conduct internal inspections to verify readiness prior to client inspections.
  • Raise inspection requests and coordinate with client representatives and third‑party inspectors.
  • Attend inspections, walkdowns, punch‑list reviews, and turnover activities.
  • Support closure of comments, observations, and non‑conformances.
  • Non‑Conformance & Corrective Actions:
  • Identify quality deviations and raise NCRs where required.
  • Support investigation and resolution of quality issues.
  • Verify completion of corrective actions and maintain traceability of close‑out records.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform daily site inspections and quality surveillance.
  • Review work packs, ITPs, procedures, drawings, and specifications.
  • Verify equipment installation against approved drawings and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Monitor structural erection activities and mechanical installation progress.
  • Inspect site painting and protective coating activities.
  • Verify inspection reports, material traceability records, and quality documentation.
  • Participate in punch‑list inspections and mechanical completion walkdowns.
  • Prepare inspection reports and daily quality updates.
  • Liaise with construction, commissioning, engineering, and client teams regarding quality‑related matters.
  • Maintain accurate records within project quality management systems.
Requirements
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in QA/QC inspection within industrial construction, heavy industry, EPC, metals, power, oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, or manufacturing projects.
  • Proven experience compiling Quality Books and turnover dossiers for major construction projects.
  • Demonstrated construction‑site experience through installation and completion phases.
  • Mechanical & Structural Competence:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment installation, structural steel erection, alignment verification, dimensional inspections, bolted connections and torque verification, mechanical completion documentation, coating and painting inspections.
  • Electrical Experience (Desirable):
  • Experience reviewing and compiling electrical QA/QC documentation.
  • Familiarity with cable installation records, electrical inspection records, testing records, and turnover file.
  • Quality Systems:
  • Strong understanding of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), NCR management, material traceability, mechanical completion processes, turnover systems, quality dossier compilation, and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Communication:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, client representatives, third‑party inspectors, and project management teams.
  • Professional written and verbal English.
Education & Credentials
  • Technical Diploma, HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline.
  • CSWIP, BGAS, NACE, ICorr, PCN, or equivalent inspection certifications will be advantageous.
  • Relevant site safety certifications preferred.
