Job summary

ECM Selection (Holdings) Limited seeks a Prototyping Manufacture Technician to join a small technical team creating components for robotics, advanced sensing technologies and AI-enabled systems. The role focuses on operating and maintaining 3D printing equipment and preparing print-ready CAD files for rapid prototyping.

Candidates should have hands-on fabrication experience with electromechanical components and a solid grasp of mechanical tolerances.

Qualifications

• Experience with 3D printers (industrial preferred) and maintenance.
• CAD proficiency for preparing print files.
• Hands-on experience with bespoke fabrication and prototype electromechanical components.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and tolerances.
• Senior level: mentoring and training experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain advanced additive manufacturing equipment to produce prototypes.
• Conduct quality testing and evaluate component performance against tolerances.
• Collaborate with a small engineering team on robotics and AI-enabled prototypes.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior technicians where appropriate.

Job description

Create 3D printed prototypes and bespoke components for AI-enabled industry products

The Prototyping Manufacture Technician will join a small technical engineering team developing components used in robotics, advanced sensing technologies and AI-enabled systems. This hands-on role will include operating advanced additive manufacturing equipment (3D printing).

Requirements:

• Experience with 3D printers (ideally industrial, but extensive hobby project experience may be considered). This should include operating, maintaining and troubleshooting of 3D printer technology (FDM, SLA, SLS).
• Understanding of CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) for preparing print files.
• Hands-on experience with bespoke fabrication including prototype electromechanical components. This may include the use of drills, saws, mills, sanders and other hand tools. Any experience with CNC would be desirable.
• Excellent understanding of mechanical principles and tolerances – responsibilities will include quality testing and component performance.
• For senior level, experience with mentoring and training would be required.

As projects may have military applications, the company require technical employees to be able to be get UK security clearance, so only eligible British nationals will be considered. The position is fully onsite.
