Job summary

Swedish Match's Innovation Development Center seeks a Process Engineer to be the technical contact for prototyping of Snus and Nicotine Pouch projects, designing experimental plans, leading prototype production, and developing equipment.

You will collaborate with R&D, Quality, EHS, Manufacturing and technicians to ensure safe, right-first-time prototyping, translate results into knowledge, support scale-up and production campaigns.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in process development, manufacturing, pilot-scale operations, or industrial scale-up.
• Expertise in granulation processes including development, optimization, troubleshooting, scale-up, and technology transfer; hands-on with powder handling and particulate processing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to lead technical investigations and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Proficient in Swedish and English.

Responsibilities

• Design experimental plans and identify optimal processing approaches for specific substrates and formulations.
• Lead the full prototype production lifecycle from feasibility to on-floor execution with thorough documentation.
• Generate process knowledge by analyzing experimental outcomes and translating findings into standards.
• Support industrial trials and production campaigns and assist scale-up of new products and processes.
• Develop custom setups, adapt equipment, or coordinate sourcing of machinery for complex prototypes.
• Analyze equipment and process performance through data analysis, troubleshooting, and KPI monitoring.
• Collaborate with EHS to ensure full compliance with equipment and processes and maintain safety standards.
