Job description

Job Scope

Lyten is looking for a Production Engineer (Pilot Production) specializing in automated industrial (battery) production to stabilize, scale, and continuously improve pilot‑line processes across electrode manufacturing, cell assembly, and formation & aging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own pilot‑line production steps across Wet‑ and Dry Electrode, Assembly, and Formation & Aging processes.
  • Define, monitor, and improve operation parameter ranges and control windows fit for lab pilot productions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define production system requirements, select suitable hardware and software, and create robust solutions for production lines.
  • Implement data‑driven production control methods, including SPC on CtQs and MSAs, and develop dashboards for OEE, FPY, scrap, and downtime.
  • Prepare and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, and work instructions for pilot productions.
  • Validate process changes against safety and environmental requirements in partnership with Safety & Environment.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis on equipment and process performance improvements during A‑ and B‑sample productions.
  • Collaborate with Cell Design, Materials, Maintenance & Automation, Supply Chain, and Operations teams on fast‑learning cycles and problem solving to mature production processes.
  • Review engineering design documentation and support project teams in selecting equipment suppliers.
  • Oversee site acceptance tests of equipment upon commissioning and participate in internal training and workshops.
  • Estimate costs for projects and change requests, provide input for quoting and change orders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 3‑8 years of experience in high‑precision manufacturing or pilot/scale‑up environments (battery, pharma, semiconductor, or film/web coating).
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green‑ or Black‑belt) is a plus.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Hands‑on experience with roll‑to‑roll processes, discrete assembly, coating/drying, laser cutting/welding, and in‑line test methods (DCIR, HiPot, leakage test).
  • Proficient in DOE, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, and structured RCA methods.
  • Experience with Design For Manufacturing applied to high‑volume industrial production.
  • Familiarity with dry‑room operations, chemical handling, and ATEX/CE compliance.
  • Experience with MES/SCADA/PLC datasets and basic scripting/querying for data analysis.
  • Experience with mechanical design using 3D CAD (plus).
  • Ability to travel to Lyten’s factories and supplier sites.
Specific Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of AIAG/VDA and ISO9xxx standards for mass production (APQP/PPAP).
  • Knowledge of European Directives and relevant ISO, IEC, and safety standards.
  • Strong project and supplier management and structured problem‑solving skills.
