Job summary

Lyten is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive equipment commissioning, ramp-up, and full-scale battery cell production with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. You will lead cross-functional teams to optimize processes, reduce downtime, and improve yield.

The role requires hands-on experience in commissioning, problem solving, and a strong background in TPM and quality tools, all within a fast-growing production environment. English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering is required.
  • Experience leading manufacturing process improvements in a factory setting is expected.
  • Hands-on equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization experience is essential.
  • Familiar with ISO, IATF, and VDA quality standards and TPM concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in HAZOP sessions and ensure safety and environmental standards.
  • Lead equipment commissioning including on-site cold and hot commissioning.
  • Guide transitions from commissioning to full-scale production ramp-up.
  • Translate lessons learned into design and process improvements.
  • Monitor and improve KPIs like yield and availability; identify bottlenecks.
  • Lead RCA for equipment-related losses and process deviations.
  • Develop manufacturing process standards and operator training.
  • Train new engineers and operators; prepare documentation and checklists.
  • Provide feedback to suppliers on equipment quality and CE compliance.
  • Develop DOEs and schedule trials on-site and at supplier sites.

Job Scope

TheManufacturing Engineer plays a key role in processequipment commissioning, production ramp-up, and full-scale manufacturing within a battery cell production facility. They ensure smooth start-up of production lines,optimizemanufacturing processes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to maximize process yield, equipment availability, and overall production performance. This role combines hands-on equipment commissioning experience, cross-functional collaboration, and technicalexpertiseto deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality battery cell production. The manufacturing engineeris responsibleforall aspects of their process machine including technical functionality, how personnel interact with it, what maintenance activities arerecommended,and what crucial spares arerequired.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in HAZOP sessions and ensure compliance with process safety, operational safety, and environmental standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence throughout production and commissioning activities.
  • Lead process equipment commissioning, including cold and hot commissioning on-site during start-up or restart projects. (Project timeline dependent)
  • Facilitate smooth transitions from commissioning to production ramp-up and full-scale manufacturing. (Project timeline dependent)
  • Translate lessons learned into design and process improvements for future expansions.
  • Monitor,analyzeand improveproductionKPIs, including yield, availability, and performance.Identifyingtop losses, production bottlenecks, and performance gapstodrive corrective actionsand continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment-related losses, minor stops, and process deviations.
  • Define, release, andmaintainmanufacturing process standards and operator training programs.
  • Train and mentor new engineers,operatorsand other support functions.
  • Prepare, review, and approve documentationincluding (but not limited to);WI, PFMEAs,commissioning checklists, project timelines, A3s.
  • Provide technical feedback and guidance to suppliers to ensure equipment quality, compliance with specifications, and CE standards.
  • Develop and issue DOEs (Design of Experiments) and schedule process and equipment trialsonsite andat supplier sites(ifrequired).
  • Deliver a line capable of obtaining PPAP approval, following a structured quality gate model.
  • Complete supplementary tasks as seen fit by management to effectivelyutilizetime andresourcesfor the benefit of the business.

This role requires regular presence on the production floor.

Qualifications And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical,electrical, orchemicalengineering.
  • Minimum of3years of relevant work experience in production, equipment, or engineering-related roles.
  • Proventrack recordof leading manufacturing process improvements and production optimization in a factory environmentfollowing recognisedproject management techniques.
  • Experience in building and scaling production in a fast-growing environment, ideally within thebattery,food,pharma,paper and pulp,semiconductor,electrochemical, or similar industries.
  • Hands-on experience and interest in equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, andoptimisation.
  • Proficient in detailed root cause analysis, structured problem-solving methodologies and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience working to industry standards obtaining certification including ISO, IATF &VDA.
  • Experience with statistical process control and process capability analysis.
  • Experience working with preventive maintenance strategies and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) concepts within a production environment.
  • Experience in spare part prioritisation and stock optimisation, balancing equipment availability with cost efficiency.
Specific skills & Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and six sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) metrics and their application in production environments.
  • Strong technical curiosity, analytical mindset, and business-oriented problem-solving skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills with diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to document technical problems concisely.
  • Proficient in the use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order management, equipment data, and maintenance reporting. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is advantageous.
  • Excellent English skills, both written and oral, are essential. Basic Swedish and other language skills are a plus. You should havegood communicationskills and be able to work in close collaboration with colleagues from many different teams.
  • Ability to work within varying environments including clean-rooms and dry-rooms, while wearingappropriate PPE.
  • Comfortable operating in high-profile, international, and high-pressure environments.
  • A genuine technical interest and passionaboutworking within production is highly valued.
