Overview

Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua). The position emphasizes quantitative evidence syntheses, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and collaboration with practitioners to deliver scientifically robust and practically relevant guidance for climate adaptation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct systematic reviews, meta-analyses and other evidence synthesis methods to address research questions related to resilience to climate change in aquatic ecosystems.
• Apply quantitative synthesis to inform decision-making and provide practical guidance for environmental managers.
• Collaborate with practitioners, policy makers and stakeholders to ensure relevance and impact of research findings.
• Publish results in leading international journals and present work at conferences.
• Contribute to the development of an independent research profile and potential collaboration with researchers and managers.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biology (ecology/evolution), Environmental science or similar discipline.
• Experience with systematic reviews, meta-analyses or other evidence-synthesising methods as a central part of thesis or career.
• Experience relevant to environmental management, decision support or governance of aquatic resources; collaboration with practitioners (especially in coastal and marine areas) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; evidence of publishing scientific research; good written and spoken English.
• Early-career researcher; PhD obtained no more than three years before the starting date (with limited exceptions for documented circumstances).

The successful candidate will work with ecologists and evolutionary biologists from SLU and the Swedish Natural History Museum, with close collaboration with authorities and managers. SLU Aqua combines ecological, biodiversity, fisheries research with environmental monitoring and advisory services for national and international management.
