Job summary

Stockholm University’s Department of Meteorology (MISU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Stratospheric Dynamics and Turbulence. The role focuses on understanding bursts of turbulence in the stratosphere using observations and km-scale global simulations with ICON/IFS, ERA6 reanalysis, and related tools.

Start date 01/01/2027, located in Stockholm. The successful candidate will shape an independent project within two broad goals, receive strong support, and build collaborations

Qualifications

• Swedish doctoral degree or equivalent from another country.
• PhD in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, oceanography, or related field.
• Strong programming skills—preferably Python—and excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct observations and/or model analysis to study stratospheric dynamics.
• Collaborate with MISU colleagues and publish scientific results.
• Contribute to visualization and presentation of findings.
