The School of Biotechnology & Biomolecular Science at UNSW invites applications for a fixed-term Research Role aligned with the Golden Genome Project. The successful candidate will lead or contribute to cutting-edge work on Ecklonia radiata, including library construction and transformation protocol development.

We seek a PhD holder with a strong track record in molecular biology and microalgal culture, capable of independent research and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in a related discipline or relevant work experience.
• Experience with microalgal culture and transformation, and expertise in molecular biology.
• Commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.

Aufgaben

• Contribute independently or as a team member in collaborative research to enhance research outcomes.
• Conduct research and enable teams to create scholarly output recognised by peers.
• Undertake specific research projects under guidance of a research leader.
• Support dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels.
• Undertake discipline-appropriate research activities (surveys, literature reviews, data gathering).
• Participate in conferences/workshops relevant to the project.
• Assist with supervision of research students where required.
• Lead construction of insertional deletion libraries of microalgal species.
• Assist in development of transformation protocols for Ecklonia radiata.
• Lead maintenance and culture of microalgal strains and cryopreservation.
