The SciLifeLab Group at LiU Cantù Lab is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate how Wnt signaling regulates cell fate and contributes to cancer heterogeneity. You will focus on context-dependent transcriptional responses using organoid cultures and single-cell analyses.
The role is full-time for three years with potential 6–12 months abroad and opportunities to initiate independent funding. Teaching may occur up to 20% of your time, and collaboration in an international, competitive
Ref BKV-2026-00796
Your work will entail the investigation of how Wnt signaling, a cell-to-cell communication pathway conserved across the animal kingdom, acts as regulator of cell fate. While the mechanisms of canonical Wnt pathway have been extensively studied, it is yet not understood how nuclear protein \u03b2-catenin can drive the wide arrays of transcriptional responses depending on the context or developmental stage. You will focus on different cancer types that display a constitutively active Wnt pathway, and investigate how this pathway contributes to heterogenous cell behavior and ability to self-renew, differentiate and migrate.
As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.
Your doctoral degree must have been awarded no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special grounds, applicants who were awarded their doctoral degree earlier may also be considered, for example due to medical internship or specialist medical training, or various types of statutory leave. You must hold a doctoral degree awarded by a higher education institution other than Linköping University.
We are looking for someone with a PhD in a subject related to molecular biology. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way.
Among the required qualification, the applicant will possess experience with advanced cell culture systems, such as organoids from various organs. In addition to basic molecular biology (RT-qPCR, Western Blot, DNA cloning), the candidate must have experience with transcription factors profiling and single-cell transcriptomics analyses, and computational skills (e.g., R and Python).
Meritorious will be considered experience in Microscopy-based imaging, Immunohistochemistry, and cell culture differentiation protocols.
You are a curiosity-drive person, fascinated by the complexity of biological systems and their ability to self-organize. You are also drawn to teaching and supervision of younger students, and to work in cooperation in an internationally-oriented, competitive research group. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this position.
The Cantù Lab is located at the Division of Molecular Medicine and Virology, Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences, at the Medical Faculty of LiU.
The Lab is also part of the Wallenberg Center for Molecular Medicine and the SciLifeLab.

The position is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for three years.
Within the framework of the appointment, the postdoctoral researcher may spend 6–12 months at a higher education institution abroad, funded by the Foundation.
Before the third year of the appointment, the postdoctoral researcher may apply to the Foundation for an independent research grant of approximately SEK 500,000. The grant is intended for a researcher who has the ambition and, in the Foundation’s assessment, the ability to establish an independent research environment.
The starting date will be agreed upon, with commencement during 2027.
The position is funded by the Högbom-Cocozza Research Foundation and carries a salary of SEK 43,000 per month.
