Job summary

Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg seeks a postdoctoral researcher to bridge humanoid robotics with industrial production. The role spans robotics, production systems, and digital representations, contributing to lab studies and real-world industrial use cases.

You will work across departments with international industry partners, publish widely, and potentially supervise students while helping establish a long-term research environment for industrial humanoid robotics at Chalmers.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field such as manufacturing systems, robotics, automation, human-robot interaction, computer science, mathematics, physics or related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent scientific research and empirical/experimental work.
• Background in robotics, machine learning, and control; proficiency in programming (C++, Python) and ROS2.
• Experience with real hardware and simulation-based implementations; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze industrial tasks suitable for humanoid robotics.
• Develop methods for evaluating humanoid robots in production and logistics environments.
• Plan and conduct laboratory and industrial studies of humanoid robot applications.
• Contribute to design and evaluation of industrial use cases with project partners.
• Analyze interactions between humanoid robots and production systems, material flows, automation and workers.
• Implement robot control algorithms using simulation and real humanoid robots to perform tasks.
• Evaluate performance in productivity, robustness, safety, flexibility, human factors and environmental impact.
• Publish results in high-quality international journals and conferences.
• Communicate research results to industrial partners and the broader community.
• Supervise master’s and/or PhD students; potential involvement in teaching at undergrad/masters level.
