Karlstad University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to evaluate the benefits of collaborative algorithms for autonomous vehicles in Göteborg. The position involves working closely with industry and road authorities, focusing on energy savings and traffic flow improvements.
The ideal candidate holds a recent doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering and possesses strong collaboration skills. This is a full-time temporary employment for two years, with a possibility of extension, requiring physical presence at the work site.
Our goal is to focus on competence, knowledge and collaboration in order to play an important, demonstrable role in social development.
Do you want to implement colaborative autonomous vehicles in real traffic? We are looking for a postdoc to work together with industry and road authoroties on this.
At the department of Electrical Engineering research and education are performed in the areas of Communications, Antennas and Optical Networks, Systems and Control, Signal processing and Biomedical engineering, and Electric Power Engineering. We work with sustainable and smart solutions to societal challenges, such as energy efficiency and electrification in areas ranging from transport and production systems to communication solutions and biomedical engineering.
The Division of Automatic Control, Automation and Mechatronics conducts interdisciplinary research and education in close collaboration with industry and society. Our research combines fundamental methods with practical applications to address key societal challenges, including sustainable energy systems, battery technologies, smart automation, digitalisation, autonomous vehicles and industrial competitiveness. Through expertise in automatic control, industrial automation and mechatronics, we develop innovative solutions that contribute to safer, more efficient and sustainable technologies. Simulation, modelling and advanced control are central components of our research, which spans applications in manufacturing, transportation, energy systems and beyond.
The research project aims at evaluating the benefits of collaborative algorithms given different percentages of cooperating autonomous vehicles in a mixed environment with human drivers concerning energy savings, traffic flow and safety. Using modelling, simulation and optimization techniques different colaborative functionality, and different traffic infrastructure will be evaluated to identify the best conditions for real traffic tests which then will be prepared together with industry.
The following requirements are mandatory:
You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
The following experience will strengthen your application:
