The Högberg lab at Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Solna seeks researchers with a strong computational background to invent at the molecular scale. You will join an interdisciplinary team bridging physics, biology, chemistry and engineering to design algorithms, models and software for DNA-based technologies.

Qualifications

• PhD or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree is required at the latest at employment decision.
• Dissertation not yet completed is acceptable but preferred to be planned for completion soon.
• Highly valued is a creative, quantitatively strong scientist who can invent and define their own research questions.
• Strong programming skills and experience with sequencing data or machine learning are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and simulate self-assembling DNA nanostructures and molecular machines.
• Turn artificial molecular networks into images from sequencing data, effectively imaging without a microscope.
• Encode, store, retrieve and error-correct digital information in DNA, including random access, editing and deletion.
• Develop DNA devices that sense conditions, make decisions and act when criteria are met.
