Job summary

A leading agricultural university in Sweden is offering a postdoctoral position focused on forest genetics. The successful candidate will develop high-throughput molecular markers and study population genetics in conifers. Job description
Overview

Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, UPSC, Umeå, Sweden. A postdoctoral position is available in the field of forest genetics. The group focuses on developing high‑throughput molecular markers (SNP arrays) for forest breeding, and also studies population genetics and gene family evolution in conifers. The research methods employed include genomics, bioinformatics, microarray hybridization, and proteomics.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in Genetics, earned not earlier than three years ago
  • Prior experience with bioinformatics, genotyping and genetic mapping studies
  • Publication record in plant QTL genetics/genomics, preferably in conifers
  • Knowledge of basic molecular biology methods, proteomics and array hybridization is considered a plus
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
