Job summary

Recann is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the ongoing development of an Integration Hub built on Azure API Management and Backstage. The role focuses on enhancing the internal developer portal, API onboarding, and secure integrations across backend systems.

You will own platform ownership, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure high-quality API lifecycle management, security, and observability in a hybrid Gothenburg environment.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure API Management or equivalent
• Experience developing or extending Backstage or similar internal developer portal
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and OpenAPI specifications
• Experience with API security concepts (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT) and Git-based development
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain Azure API Management, onboard APIs, manage routing and policies
• Develop and customize Backstage as the primary entry point for the Integration Hub
• Implement automated validation and linting of API specs and integrate into CI/CD
• Produce technical documentation, troubleshoot gateway/portal/catalog issues, gather developer feedback

Job description

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Platform Engineer to play a central role in the continued development of an Integration Hub based on Azure API Management (APIM) and Backstage. The goal of this initiative is to evolve the platform into a modern internal developer portal, making APIs easier for developers across the organization to discover, understand, and consume.

Key Responsibilities

• Azure API Management: Configure and maintain Azure API Management, manage API onboarding, backend integrations, routing, gateway policies, security (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT), and platform observability.
• Developer Portal & API Catalog: Develop and customize Backstage as the primary entry point for the Integration Hub, improve usability, manage API documentation/metadata, and develop custom plugins or integrations.
• API Quality & Automation: Implement automated validation and linting of API specifications, enforce quality standards, integrate validation controls into CI/CD pipelines, and automate deployments using Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Platform Ownership: Produce technical documentation, troubleshoot issues across gateway, portal, catalog, and cloud layers, gather developer feedback, and contribute to technical decision-making.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure API Management or an equivalent API management platform.
• Experience developing or extending Backstage or a similar Internal Developer Portal.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and API lifecycle management.
• Experience with API security concepts (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT), Git-based development, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to take technical ownership.
• Start Date: November 2, 2026 (Immediate start)
• Duration: 6 months with a strong possibility of extension.
• Allocation: 100% (Full-time).
