Job summary

Avaron AB is seeking a senior data engineer to strengthen a self-service data platform in a large retail environment. You will design and operate data products across Bronze to Gold layers within a Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, supporting governance, quality, and scalable delivery.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement reusable patterns, notebooks, pipelines, and cost-aware operations in a modern data stack. Excellent English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on data engineering using PySpark or Spark, SQL, Python and pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks/Synapse with Fabric path.
• Experience building reusable pipelines and data products with templates.
• Governance experience: data quality, metadata, catalog tooling, and docs.
• Experience with monitoring, operational reporting, and platform support.
• Strong scripting and automation capabilities.
• Ability to document across technical and governance stakeholders.
• Approximately five years of relevant data engineering experience with governance exposure.

Responsibilities

• You will build and operate data products in Microsoft Fabric, from ingestion to consumption-ready layers.
• You will develop end-to-end solutions across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, including transformations and publishing.
• You will create reusable templates, parameterized pipelines, and metadata-driven ingestion patterns.
• You will implement data contracts, metadata standards, lifecycle controls, and ownership structures.
• You will strengthen operational governance through data quality controls and documentation.
• You will implement and operate catalog, lineage, classification, ownership, and data quality using Purview and Fabric features.
• You will build dashboards and reporting for platform health, pipeline reliability, and cost visibility.
• You will track SLAs/SLOs and support incident routines and platform operations improvement.
• You will work with FinOps on capacity utilization and cost optimization recommendations.
• You will onboard teams to platform standards and reusable engineering practices.
