Job description

Creatives at Brickland combine artistry, craftsmanship, and strategic thinking to produce stunning concepts that stop people in their tracks. We’re now looking to expand our team with an experienced Art Director with a demonstrated background in the automotive world, or someone who has turned their passion for automotive imagery into a craft in other ways.

As an Art Director at Brickland, you’ll conceive and develop ideas that solve important client problems and make their dreams come alive. By thinking beyond briefs and proposing ideas clients may not expect, you’ll help build Brickland’s reputation for ground‑breaking and influential work.

Art Directors play essential roles in the strategy, conception, and design of our productions. They bring exceptional creative vision, craft meticulously executed outputs, and guide projects from the initial brief to the end user, overseeing that the execution reflects the high standards we set for our work.

As an Art Director, you have a strong knowledge of current trends; you’re communicative and collaborative; and you know what our clients expect, along with maintaining a sharp eye for quality. Because this role is heavily focused on the automotive industry, you’ll be expected to speak the lingo, and fully understand what it takes to deliver top‑tier visuals for the many tastemakers in this field.

About us

Brickland is a creative studio based in Gothenburg. We are a diverse group of designers, technologists, and artists, driven by a shared passion for CGI, motion, and VFX. We collaborate with global clients across industries to create visual experiences that captivate a large audience. Our vision is to shape tomorrow's digital landscape with immersive visual narratives.

We enjoy the process as much as the finish, and we believe that the whole event should be rewarding for everybody involved. In simple terms, we love to create together with our fellow artists and with our clients.

We have a key role to fill, as we are now on the lookout to find the right candidate. The position is located in our studio in Gothenburg. It is important that you are able to commute to the office or that you can relocate here. We offer a flexible workplace and part‑time remote work is up for discussion.

Key roles and responsibilities
  • Oversee all project design deliverables and maintain overall art direction, ensuring the highest quality standards are consistently met.
  • Set clear benchmarks of quality and communicate expectations to the 3D team (often alongside the Creative Director, Producers, or 3D Leads), overseeing execution from concept to final asset delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director, project leaders, 3D artists, and tech artists to develop innovative, persuasive concepts that align with strategic goals.
  • Provide strategic and conceptual thinking in addition to exceptional art direction skills, guiding the creative process at every stage.
  • Drive the development of ideas for new business pitches and other key studio initiatives, ensuring our creative output remains competitive and forward‑thinking.
  • Inspire and mentor the team by leading through example, offering constructive feedback, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Embrace challenges and champion new ways of thinking, encouraging the team to push boundaries and explore fresh perspectives.
Qualities, skills, and characteristics
  • Proven track record in CG Art Direction, ideally backed by a 3D artist background with a deep understanding of industry best practices.
  • Extensive 3D experience, with strong knowledge of common 3D workflows and tools (e.g., Cinema4D, Redshift, Houdini, plus retouching, grading, and editing software).
  • A compelling portfolio that highlights both conceptual thinking and refined design execution.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to articulate the reasoning behind your creative decisions and concepts.
  • Drive to push boundaries, delivering ideas that stand out on a global scale.
  • Passionate and forward‑looking, staying current on emerging trends in media and technology.
  • Strong planning capabilities.
  • Robust industry experience and preferably, relevant tertiary education in a related discipline.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma or Canva, demonstrating versatility in multiple creative platforms.
Open for discussion of form of employment and benefit
  • Flexible Working Hours (9‑15 are for teamwork)
  • Social Events - We have a fantastic company culture, we like to go out for lunch, have some fun competitions in the office, go away on trips and there might be a beer or two on a Friday.
