Job summary
Axis Communications AB in Lund, Sweden, seeks a Mechanical Engineer for New Business Intercom Solutions. You will shape the hardware side of intercom products, from concept to volume production, ensuring robustness for outdoor and indoor use.
You will design enclosures, manage materials and processes, and work with thermal, acoustic, and regulatory requirements while collaborating with electronics, software, and supplier teams.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing mechanical hardware—from concept through verification.
- Ability to work across functions and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive, quality-driven approach with high initiative.
- Fluency in English; basic Swedish.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Design enclosures and mechanical parts for new intercom products with focus on quality and manufacturability.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings; select materials and surface treatments.
- Perform tolerance analysis and conduct thermal management with heat and shock simulations.
- Ensure IP/ingress protection and vandal-resistance; contribute to acoustic design.
- Plan and carry out mechanical testing and verification against requirements; maintain engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with electronics, software, and test teams; work with suppliers on tooling and production readiness.

The Intercom HW team consists of 11 highly skilled electronics and mechanical engineers. We are part of the Intercom Solutions department, where hardware and software teams work closely together to develop competitive intercom products and solutions.
Our way of working is highly collaborative. We solve challenges across disciplines by working closely with colleagues in software, industrialization, quality, and product development. In this role, you will be a key part of a team that values technical excellence, continuous development, and a shared passion for our work.
You will also collaborate with colleagues at 2N, part of the Axis group. Together, we leverage our complementary experience in intercom and access control to share knowledge, identify new opportunities, and strengthen the solutions we deliver to our customers and partners.

Are you a mechanical engineer who wants to see your designs turn into real products used around the world? Join our Intercom Solutions Team in Lund, where you will shape the physical side of our intercom products — from first concept to volume production.
Intercoms live on walls, doors and entrances, often outdoors and often exposed. That places real demands on the mechanics: they need to withstand weather, impact and daily use, manage heat, and support the acoustic performance the product depends on. This is where you come in.
- Design enclosures and mechanical parts for new intercom products, with a strong focus on quality and manufacturability
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings
- Select materials and surface treatments, balancing durability, cost, and availability
- Perform tolerance analysis to ensure robust, repeatable designs
- Work with thermal management and carry out heat and shock simulations
- Design to meet IP/ingress protection and vandal-resistance requirements
- Contribute to acoustic design, supporting the audio performance of our intercom products
- Plan and carry out mechanical testing and verification against functional and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to design reviews and maintain thorough engineering documentation
- Collaborate with electronics, software, and test teams to deliver well-integrated product solutions
- Work with suppliers on tooling, prototypes, and production readiness

- Basic proficiency in Swedish
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Experience with plastics and injection moulding, Die casting and machining
- Working knowledge of Creo (CAD) and Windchill (PLM)
- Experience collaborating with suppliers on tooling and manufacturing
- Comfort with the full product lifecycle — from concept to volume production
