Job summary

Safety Bolt is hiring a senior mechanical engineer to become the internal expert on bolted joints and structural integrity. You will drive concepts for sensor attachment, design in-house test rigs, and collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions.

This role requires hands-on hardware work, CAD prowess, and a proactive mindset to own problems from concept through to validation in a small, fast-moving startup environment.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of bolted joint mechanics: preload theory, friction, relaxation and failure modes.
• Materials engineering foundation: steel alloys under stress, fatigue, corrosion.
• CAD proficient for mechanical component design and fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Be the internal expert on bolted joint mechanics and failure modes.
• Lead or contribute to concepts for sensor fastening to bolts for long-term retention.
• Own mechanical design of in-house test rigs and fixtures.
• Contribute to material selection, tolerances, and structural decisions.
• Partner with EE and FW to ground system discussions in mechanical reality.
• Carry out early CAD work and later hand off execution while owning design.
