Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Data Center Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and delivery for a major hyperscale campus in Horndal, Sweden. This onsite role demands strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, fire suppression, and infrastructure across the data center lifecycle.

You will collaborate with internal engineering, procurement, construction, quality, commissioning and operations teams, plus external consultants and vendors, to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical infrastructure in data centres or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience with HVAC, chillers, cooling infrastructure, fire suppression, plumbing and utilities.
• Experience supporting testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning of complex mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with relevant European mechanical engineering standards and compliance.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical engineering activities across data centre construction and delivery phases.
• Ensure systems are installed per design, regs, and environmental requirements.
• Lead technical oversight of HVAC, chillers, AHUs, fire suppression, ventilation and utility networks.
• Support commissioning, testing, quality control inspections and handovers.

• Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks throughout design, construction and commissioning.
• Review design packages for constructability, operability and compliance.

Insight Global are seeking a Data Center Mechanical Engineer

This position requires full-time onsite presence in Horndal, Sweden.

As a key member of the Data Center Services team, you will act as the mechanical engineering subject matter expert on a major hyperscale data centre campus. You will provide technical leadership across design, construction, commissioning, quality assurance, and operational handover activities, ensuring critical mechanical systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical engineering activities throughout data centre construction and delivery phases.
• Ensure mechanical systems and infrastructure are installed in accordance with design specifications, local regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Lead technical oversight of critical mechanical equipment including HVAC systems, chillers, air handling units, fire suppression systems, ventilation, and utility networks.
• Support commissioning, testing, quality control inspections, and operational handovers.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, procurement, construction, quality, commissioning, and operations teams, as well as external consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks throughout design, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Review design packages for constructability, operability, and compliance with local requirements.
• Manage engineering documentation, technical submittals, testing records, change control processes, and project reporting.

Must-Have Requirements Include

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong understanding of critical mechanical infrastructure within data centres, industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, or other mission-critical projects.
• Experience with HVAC systems, chillers, cooling infrastructure, fire suppression systems, plumbing, utility networks, and fuel piping systems.
• Experience supporting testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities for complex mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of relevant European mechanical engineering standards and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Plusses Include

• Familiarity with Swedish mechanical, environmental, and safety regulations and standards.
• Experience using construction management or commissioning platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities within live construction or critical infrastructure environments.
