Job summary

Stora Enso AB is seeking a Research Engineer to join the Wood & Pulp Technology Team on a fixed-term basis to cover parental leave from 1 September 2026 to 30 September 2027. The role focuses on CLT and LVL performance and applications in mass timber construction, with flexibility on location in Sweden or Finland and potential for other European sites.

Qualifications

Tertiary education in a relevant field (e.g., wood science, civil/structural engineering).
Deep knowledge of mass timber products (CLT and LVL) and their use in construction.
Strong communication skills to explain technical topics to non-experts.
Analytical approach with data-driven decision making.
Experience in research projects and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
Fluent written and spoken English; Swedish fluency is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering and wood processing expertise to develop ideas, accelerate projects, and solve problems.
Support customers and sales with technical guidance on CLT and LVL use in construction.
Participate in project teams to deliver innovation projects on time and within budget.
Manage mass timber research activities.
Assist colleagues with certification and building regulation requirements for mass timber products.
