Job description

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Engine Manufacturing

Scania's Engine Manufacturing (DM) produces components for Scania and TRATON engines. Sustainability is a key focus area for us, and our new engine program contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions. At the same time, we strive to be an attractive employer by working extensively with process optimization and digitalization in our production operations, while actively promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Would you like to help drive logistics development with a strong focus on automation, digitalization, and future material flows? If so, this could be the role for you.

Job Responsibilities

A typical day may include participating in the team's daily startup meeting, attending project meetings, and taking part in or leading risk assessments. Your responsibilities will also include handling supplier quotations, reviewing technical requirement specifications, and supporting logistics development activities connected to automation and material flow improvements. At times, you may participate in ergonomic assessments, prepare presentations for decision-making forums, or present material to the engine machining management team. You may also have the opportunity to contribute to Scania-wide projects, representing the engine machining organization. To succeed in your work, you will collaborate closely with several support functions, including work environment engineers, local finance and HR representatives, production engineers, team leaders, workshop technicians, and colleagues across other Scania production units.

Who You Are

To thrive as a Logistics Development Engineer with us, you are curious, open-minded, and able to think beyond established solutions. Production conditions and material flows can change quickly, so we value people who are adaptable, solution-oriented, and motivated by continuous improvement. We work according to clear processes that help drive projects forward, so you should be comfortable working in a structured and proactive manner. Since you will operate in an international environment with project teams in countries such as the United States, Brazil, and Germany, you need to be confident communicating in both written and spoken English. You hold an engineering degree from a university or equivalent institution and have approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in logistics development. However, our highest priority is finding the right person. If you believe you are the right candidate for the role, even if you do not meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply. If we find that you are the right fit, we will support your development and help you grow into the role.

This Is Us

Today, our team consists of approximately 10 people with different roles within logistics development. We bring a broad mix of experience, backgrounds, and expertise, and we share a strong commitment to improving logistics flows and developing future ways of working. Most of our work is project-based and ranges from equipment procurement and supplier coordination to flow analysis, capacity planning, automation, and digitalization. We have already started the automation of material handling within engine machining, and our largest ongoing project is the planning and commissioning of new automated material flows to and from the machining lines using AGVs and AMRs. We work both independently in individual projects and collaboratively in larger team projects, creating a rewarding mix of self-driven work and teamwork. We also have established forums for collaboration and communication, including daily management meetings, weekly meetings, project pulse reviews, and larger team forums where everyone in the group participates.

Scania Offers

We offer a dynamic, flexible workplace with hybrid work options, including Scania Sergel and Midway hubs. With a structured development plan and courses, Scania supports your career growth both locally and internationally.

Scania also hosts events for employees and their families, and Stockholm residents enjoy direct access to Södertälje via Scania Job express buses.
