Job summary

Lead SAP Software Engineer at H&M Group will guide the master data team's engineering direction, building and modernizing SAP master data solutions that underpin our SAP landscape. You will provide technical leadership and mentor engineers in Stockholm and Bengaluru.

Collaborate with Product Managers and Architects to deliver secure, resilient data solutions using ABAP, BTP, CPI, and related technologies, while promoting best practices and high-quality software.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering, with a Technical Lead or Staff Engineer background.
• Strong SAP ABAP Development experience including OO ABAP and design patterns.
• Proven SAP BTP Architecture expertise for composable, event-driven solutions.
• Experience with ABAP CDS, HANA modelling, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on ABAP tooling and debugging skills including ST05 and SAT.
• Ability to mentor teams and drive SAP best practices across projects.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Lead SAP Software Engineer, you will lead the engineering direction of our master data team, building and modernizing the master data solutions which are the backbone of H&M's SAP landscape.

You will provide technical leadership, define scalable solutions and architectures, mentor engineers across Stockholm and Bengaluru, and drive engineering excellence through modern development practices in SAP ABAP, CPI, BTP etc. You will be working closely with Product Managers, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders, you will deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing master data solutions that enable critical business operations.

You will collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Enterprise Architects, Scrum Masters, and business stakeholders across global teams in Stockholm and Bengaluru. Together, you'll define technical roadmap of SAP master data solutions.

WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for people with…

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience in a Technical Lead or Staff Engineer role.
• Strong experience in SAP ABAP Development, Object-Oriented ABAP, design patterns, clean coding principles, reusable frameworks, and enterprise application architecture.
• Strong experience in SAP BTP Architecture, including the ability to architect composable, event-driven, and API-based solutions across SAP BTP and on-premises systems.
• Strong experience in Clean Core implementation, SAP Application Extension Methodology, ABAP Cloud, In-App Extensibility, and Side-by-Side Extensions.
• Strong experience in ABAP CDS, Code Pushdown, HANA Modelling, and performance optimization for effective data modelling and database management.
• Strong expertise in SAP BTP RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model), OData services, API development, and modern ABAP development practices.
• Strong hands-on experience with classical ABAP concepts including Reports, ALV, Data Dictionary, Function Modules, BAPIs, RFCs, IDocs, Enhancements, User Exits, Customer Exits, BAdIs, and interface development.
• Strong troubleshooting and ABAP debugging skills, including experience with complex production support scenarios, update debugging, background debugging, RFC debugging, SQL Trace (ST05), Runtime Analysis (SAT), performance tuning, and root-cause analysis.
• Proficiency in unit testing with ABAP Unit, conducting code reviews, enforcing development standards, ensuring maintainable and high-quality code, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ability to mentor development teams, review technical designs, provide architecture guidance, and drive adoption of SAP best practices across projects and programs.

• To provide simple, efficient and scalable E-2-E SAP solutions primarily in SAP ECC, SAP MDG, SAP CRM systems which enables us to ensure reliable data of highest quality to all consuming applications.
• To provide quick and efficient Master Data Maintenance services and Roll Out of Master Data Solutions in Production systems primarily in SAP ECC, SAP MDG, SAP CRM systems.
• To design & develop New Information-Steward (IS) Reports and generate periodic IS reports for teams having Data monitoring requirements.

Added Advantage to know..

• Hands-on experience with SAP Integration Suite, CPI, API Management, Event Mesh, Solace, Kafka, and event-driven integration architectures.
• Knowledge of SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, Fiori Elements, Gateway, and modern SAP UX technologies.
