Your role as a Trainee Hydro Power Optimisation and Data Analytics Engineer

As a Hydro Power Optimisation and Data Analytics Engineer Trainee, you will join Production Support, a specialist and development function that supports safe, efficient and flexible hydropower production through optimisation, data analysis, digital tools and common working methods.

You will work closely with optimisation and development engineers, as well as colleagues in Production, Control Centres, Asset Management, IT and Markets. Together, you will turn operational and market-related needs into analyses, decision support and practical improvements for the operation of our generating units.

The role combines analytical problem-solving with hands‑on development. You will use production and measurement data to evaluate performance, identify deviations and improvement opportunities, and contribute to the development of optimisation models, system services, forecasts, visualisations and data‑driven working methods.

This is an opportunity to build broad expertise at the intersection of hydropower operations, energy markets, engineering and digitalisation, while contributing to increased flexibility, availability and long‑term value from our hydropower assets.

Requirements for this trainee position

• A Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent degree in a relevant field, such as Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or Data Science
• Knowledge of data analysis, statistics, optimisation, modelling or simulation
• Experience from programming or analytical tools, for example Python
• Be fluent in Swedish and English; proficiency in additional languages is considered a merit.

• Have completed, or expect to complete, an academic degree before the program starts in March 2027
• Have no more than one year of relevant work experience after graduation, excluding internships and working‑student roles
