Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Controls Planner for HVDC projects, based in Sweden (Västerås or Ludvika). The role focuses on planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling delivery projects from early stages through execution.

You will develop baselines, manage resources, and provide status reports to stakeholders, with emphasis on accurate forecasts, risk identification, and continuous improvement across multi-location EPC projects.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in a relevant field and experience as a Project Planner in EPC or similar.
• Strong understanding of sequencing and interfaces in EPC energy projects.
• Experience in planning and cost control on lump sum projects and leading project controls.
• Ability to plan activities, monitor execution schedules and progress.
• Excellent communication to highlight issues to management and stakeholders.
• Ability to drive project teams to control schedule performance.
• Proficiency in English is required; Primavera P6 and cost-management knowledge are a plus.
• HVDC project experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project baseline with scope, cost, and schedule.
• Provide project control input: schedule, resources, progress, forecast, risks.
• Collaborate with project team to detail activities for realistic schedules.
• Create and maintain linked, resource-loaded baselines and schedules.
• Monitor progress, analyze critical paths, and flag deviations.
• Challenge forecast dates to keep realism.
• Prepare progress reports and program updates for customers.
• Support tenders and HVDC project planning.
• Preplan scope, WBS, quantities, and financial obligations.
• Coordinate with third parties to ensure realistic plans.
